Designed around, "Teach, then Practise, Practise, Practise approach", students work through the 28 pages book learning the connections between multiplication and division facts. Then, students follow a one-minute practise session where they try to improve their personal best score - NOT comparing scores across the class. The book may be revisited to focus on any forgotten facts or if students need futher review.

How to use the book

Basic Facts Blitz is designed to be completed over a 5 to 10 week period, thus, the name ‘blitz’. During this period, the focus is on teaching specific groups of facts, developing the relationships between them, building understanding, and then practising those specific facts to consolidate what has been taught.

Following this ‘blitz’, teachers start using the one-minute practice sheet. Teachers name the row or column, and students have one-minute to complete as many questions as they can. Each row and column have been carefully constructed so that they are the same level of difficulty. Students record the number of questions attempted and the number correct to determine their own growth.
