Put an educational twist on the classic bingo game by bringing CVC patterns into the mix.

In this game, instead of matching numbers, the players will match the letters announced by the caller to the missing square on their bingo board. For example, if the caller calls out ‘d’ and a player has a square with an image of a ‘bed’ plus the cloze problem ‘be_’, they must take the bingo piece. As with the classic bingo game, the first player to complete all of the blanks on their board wins.

Play Learning

Children will enjoy learning CVC with this bingo game so much that they won’t be able to stop playing whilst developing an interest in learning. To play this bingo game:

• Each player takes a bingo board
• Another person is the caller and holds the bingo pieces
• The caller takes a bingo piece at random and announces it to the players
• The first player to have a matching square on their board (in this case, a letter that completes the CVC words) claims that piece and places it over the correct square
• The winner is the first player to cover their entire board and call out ‘BINGO!’
