Giant Magnetic Solar System
Description / Giant Magnetic Solar System
These magnets let you depict the solar system in class using a magnetic whiteboard.
Despite being significantly scaled down from their real-life counterparts, they’re detailed enough for your students to distinguish between the different planets of the solar system.
Ideal for classroom demonstration
Draw concentric elliptical shapes on the whiteboard using a whiteboard marker to represent the orbits of the planets around the Sun. Put the Sun in the middle of the elliptical shapes, and the planets along the elliptical lines. Move the planets around to show how planetary orbits work.
In full, this product contains:
- 8x Planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune)
- 1x Pluto
- 1x Sun
- 1x Earth’s Moon
- 1x Asteroid Belt
- 1x Activity Guide
Additional Information:
- Largest magnet (Sun) measures 254 mm
- This product can be used in teaching the Australian curriculum code ACSPH101: Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation is used to explain Kepler’s laws of planetary motion and to describe the motion of planets and other satellites, modelled as uniform circular motion
