Homophone Dominoes
Description / Homophone Dominoes
Homophones can be especially tricky for children to learn, as they sound the same when spoken but are spelled differently on paper. For that reason, the earlier they practise these types of words, the better.
Each domino piece has two random words, with a nice realistic photo to accompany each word. The words are set against a white and yellow background to make them easier to differentiate and to add visual interest.
Features
- High-quality melamine dominoes
- Realistic images
- Collectors tin for easy storage
Play Learning Rules
- Place dominoes face down
- Each player takes 7 dominoes
- One player places a starting domino
- Each player takes turns matching the end of a domino to form a chain. For example, the homophones ‘flower’ and ‘flour’ should be beside each other
- If a player can't place a domino, then they must pick up a spare from the pile
- The player to play all their dominoes first wins
**Tip: Encourage children to sound out (in a moderate volume) the words as they’re played. This way, they’ll immediately recognise homophones and learn to associate them with certain spellings and images. Â
