Iron filings provide students a concrete way to observe how magnetic forces work.
Making the invisible forces visible
Place the iron filings, move the magnet in any direction, and see the iron filings align themselves along the magnetic field lines, thereby, making the invisible forces visible. You can either use our plastic cased bar magnet or our super pin magnets.
Use this activity as a starting point to discuss and investigate further on topics such as forces, magnetism, material properties, and more.
