The set is made up of tactile wooden pieces, which come in singular 1cm³ units, fused ‘longs’, ‘flats’ and large cube (10cm³). Regular indentations on the fused shapes makes it clear how many units make up the whole, which helps students to connect taught numeracy concepts with a physical representation. For example, 10 single unit cubes clearly make up one ‘long’, which can form the basis of place value teaching using the set.
