The pieces range in size from 25mm x 25mm, which is the single white unit, through to the longest rod (orange), 250mm x 25mm. The orange is therefore made up of exactly 10 singles, a feature which ties in with the teaching of place value. Cuisenaire rods work well as an introductory resource before moving on to tools like MAB blocks.
