Once your students have mastered two-dimensional units of measurement (lengths and width), they can progress to the three-dimensional ones: volume and capacity.

All of our tools for measuring volume and capacity are made of plastic, making them safe to use in the classroom. Even though they’re relatively user-friendly, they’re also designed to resemble the ‘real thing’ as closely as possible, so students can easily transfer the skills they’ve learned to a real world setting.

Activity Ideas:

  • How many litres does this have? This one is straightforward enough: Measure the volume of liquid inside a cup/beaker.
  • Science experiments. Volume and capacity measurement tools are frequently used in chemistry experiments. If you’re teaching a science class or are integrating science into your maths lessons, our measurement tools can be handy for those, too.
  • Baking activities. Baking is arguably one of the more child-friendly cooking methods. Take your students to the kitchen, and have them help out with various errands. Don’t forget to use the various volume/capacity tools you’ve just discussed with them.
