Problem solving is an indispensable maths skill. After all, maths mostly consists of solving numerical problems. It’s also a skill that can be transferred to other aspects of life beyond the maths classroom.

Fortunately, we have a variety of maths problem solving resources to help your students expand their mind and hone their critical thinking skills. There’s Dr Paul Swan’s ‘Check the Clues’ books, problem solving books by the same author, and sets of cards for a good game of Numero®.

Activity Ideas:

  • Tangram puzzles. A tangram is a set of seven geometric shapes that can be arranged into various other shapes. Our tangram puzzle card games will stretch your students’ imagination, and hone a foundational skill that’s essential to artistic expression and appreciation - namely, the ability to break down and rebuild smaller, simpler shapes into larger, more complex ones.
  • Mini-building projects. Stoke your students’ interest in architecture and engineering with our Mobilo Construction Eco Builder. This set will teach the fundamentals of construction in a child-friendly way, and allow your students to marry creativity with mastery of level-appropriate STEM principles.
  • Dr. Paul Swan’s ‘Check the Clues’ books. With these resources, students can channel their inner Sherlock Holmes and solve problems using their maths skills.
