Mystery Bags - Pack of 6
Description / Mystery Bags - Pack of 6
Students will enjoy the challenge of recognising and describing a wide range of resources 'hidden' in the mystery bag.
Mystery bags are versatile and can be used to teach various mathematical concepts such as counting, sorting, patterning, operations, measurement, and more depending on the manipulatives in the mystery bag.Â
Objects maybe placed in the drawstring mystery bag and children can reach into the bag to feel the object inside the bag. This tactile experience brings into place a different sense.Â
Play Learning Ideas
- To learn comparison and patterning, children can draw out coins from the mystery bag, recognise the difference in sizes, and place coins in the order of size - ascending or descending.
- Place two sticks or rods of different lengths in the bag. Children can be asked to draw out either the shorter stick or the longer stick which gives them an understanding of length.
- Children can learn about sizes and shapes using pattern blocks. They can be asked to pick shapes with three sides, an acute angle, and more
- Place few cubes of two different colours (red and blue) and ask the children how likely it is to draw out a red or a blue cube
Beyond Maths
These activities not only help children develop basic maths skills but also encourage critical thinking and help build their problem-solving skills. In addition, these activities also help them build mathematical vocabulary.
