Pentomino pieces are shapes made up of five squares in different configurations. They’re ideal for developing spatial thinking, as children will need to consider how the pieces would slot together to form a larger shape.

Pentominoes make for a colourful addition to the classroom. The durable plastic pieces are provided in five bright colours: red, blue, green, yellow, and orange. There are equal numbers of each shape in each colour so all students will have access to the same materials.

Spatial reasoning

These shapes will prompt students to think about similarity, geometry, congruence, transformations (flip, slide, turn) and tessellation, just to name a few key topics. They’ll also contribute to the development of valuable skills like logic, problem-solving, and communication of ideas.
