Pulley systems power many machines, so it’s important to demonstrate how they work in a classroom setting.
This box contains single, double and triple pulleys, totalling up to 15 pulleys. The cords or strings are not included, and must be purchased separately.
Explore force and motion
Create a simple pulley mechanism by using these pulleys with a string. Wrap the string around the pulley, ensuring that it stays securely in place no matter which direction the string is pulled, and even if there’s a weight put on either or both ends of the string.
Tie an object to one end of the string. Move either the pulley or the string, and discuss how each of these exerts force on the object attached.
