Steel Wool
Description / Steel Wool
Steel wool is often used to scrub stubborn stains off of various objects. However, they can be valuable science tools as well.
Since steel wool contains iron, it’s a handy material for testing how iron reacts with various materials. You can also conduct a variety of electricity, physics, and chemistry experiments with it.Â
See the magic!
Children will be thrilled to see how oxidation increases the temperature and creates fog inside a beaker. They will need to soak steel wool in vinegar, wrap the steel wool around the thermometer, and place it in the beaker.
