STEM Projects - Box 2 (Aligned to the Australian Curriculum Science V9.0)
Description / STEM Projects - Box 2 (Aligned to the Australian Curriculum Science V9.0)
Learning about STEM subjects has never been easier for lower primary school children!
The new and improved STEM projects box focuses on slowly integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into younger children’s learning. This box contains only three sub strands of science to make learning easier for younger students, with one long term project and six short term projects to complete. With this hands-on content, your children will learn valuable skills about planning, designing, and evaluating their scientific work.
Consistent teaching method
Regardless of the year level, each box includes a realistic problem, criteria to find a solution, a list of suggested materials, design process steps, visual aids, and an inspirational illustration. These consistencies will make it easier for students to progress in STEM as they grow older.
Age-appropriate resources
The resources encourage child-friendly language and visual examples to explain design processes and STEM knowledge. Included in this box are 42 glossary cards that each contain a definition and matching graphic for a complicated term relating to the projects.
This box provides a range of activities that makes STEM curriculum fun and engaging for younger learners. Each short-term project is designed to be completed in small groups and details exact instructions that aim to slowly improve understanding of a subject. Alternatively, your whole class could team up to work on the long-term project together. The inclusion of assessment cards allows teachers to monitor students’ progress and alter the projects to suit individual learning styles.
In full, this product contains:
- 2x Introductory cards explaining STEM education; time allocations for using the cards; tips for planning, differentiating, teaching, and assessing STEM projects; as well as classroom management and resource management ideas
- 1x Card with icons explaining each step of the design process, in child-friendly language
- 1x Card for each Science sub-strand, which contains: a simplified explanation of the sub-strand with reference to the skills learners will be applying and learning, which includes links to Design and technology, Digital technology and Mathematics skills; and an overview of each project contained within the sub-strand, including the task and the specific materials required
- 1x Assessment card for each Science sub-strand. This lists a suggested quick formative assessment for each project and also describes the included summative assessment from the final step of the design process
- 1x Diversity card for each Science sub-strand. These lists ponder points for each project which address how changes could be made to either the content, process, product, or environment
- 6x Short-term projects and one long-term project for each sub-strand of Australian Curriculum: Science
- 6x Copies of each project card to allow for small-group use. The boxes for younger learners (Foundation-Box 2) contain three sub-strands, meaning there are 21 individual project cards in Foundation-Box 2
