Student torches can be used to assist in science classes that demonstrate electricity, can be utilised outdoors to explore dark spots in nature, or as a pointer during lessons. Torches are also handy on school camps for activities or games such as spotlight.

Robust and easy to use

Hands on learning

Torches can be used to demonstrate why the sky is blue - with the torch acting as the sun.

For this activity, you will need a clean glass jar, water, and milk. In a dark room, shine the torch at the jar of liquid, holding the torch to one side of the jar. The colour of the liquid should appear blue when shining the light from the bottom as blue light is scattered the most as it travels up. We can make this liquid change colour by moving the torch and changing the position of the beam of light. This may appear sunset pink or red, and will intensify as more milk is added to the mixture.
