Tuning Forks - Set of 8
Description / Tuning Forks - Set of 8
Tuning forks provide a simple yet effective way to demonstrate the physics of sound, since they have pure tones.
Students will enjoy the fact that tuning forks tend to retain the pitch they’re tuned into. They will also have fun with the various experiments that can be conducted using these tuning forks.
Hands-on learning
Prepare a tuning fork and a bowl of water. Activate the tuning fork by striking it against an object, and ask the students to describe the sound of the tuning fork after being struck. Then, put the tuning fork on the surface of (but not submerged in) the water. Ask the students to describe the water waves emanating from the tuning fork.
Beyond science and music
Tuning forks can also be used for relaxation and stress relief activities such as breathing exercise, body placement to help release tensions in muscles with the vibrations, meditation to help focus mind, and more.
